Roadworthy Requirements in NSW
In NSW, roadworthy inspections are required in the following circumstances:
- When transferring registration from interstate or between different vehicle classes.
- For establishing registration for unregistered vehicles or those with expired registration for more than 3 months.
- When changing from conditional to unrestricted registration.
Additionally, roadworthy inspections are mandated for taxis, hire vehicles and heavy vehicles older than five years to renew their registration. These inspections ensure vehicles meet safety standards before being allowed on NSW roads, promoting road safety for all motorists.
Roadworthy Requirements in Victoria
In Victoria, roadworthy inspections, also known as Certificate of Roadworthiness (RWC), are required when selling or transferring ownership of a registered vehicle or when re-registering a vehicle after it has been unregistered for more than three months.
Additionally, they are mandatory for registering a used vehicle from interstate, converting a vehicle from a non-passenger to a passenger vehicle and sometimes as part of the requirements for specific vehicle types such as taxis or buses. These inspections ensure vehicles meet safety standards, contributing to safer roads in Victoria.
